Members are encouraged to post all planned meetings/luncheons here on the website. It could be a great place for members to learn about any such gatherings in their area so that they can visit and share notes with former co-workers and, hopefully, with those who are still in the "trenches." Your input is earnestly solicited.

Detroit Metro/SOAP Reunion

The next Detroit Metro/SOAP reunion is scheduled for March 6 and March 7, 2009 at the Ramada Resort Hotel in Orlando. The hotel will provide us with a private room for the dinner. More information will follow as we get closer, but we hope you will mark your calendars and plan on being with us next year. The more the merrier, so try to get some new people to join us.

Seventh Annual Florida FAA Retirees Luncheon

The seventh annual Florida FAA retirees luncheon will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at Benvenuto's, 1730 North Federal Highway (US1), Boynton Beach. A map is available at their web site, www.benvenutorestaurant.com. Cocktails begin at 11:30 with lunch being served at noon. This is the same location where we had the luncheon in 2004
and 2007.

As you enter Benvenuto's, you will be handed a complimentary Mimosa. Each table will have smoked salmon and dill spread with Benvenuto's famous onion rolls. Lunch will start off with a salad of organic mixed greens, gorgonzola, Granny Smith apples, and toasted spiced pecans. You will have a choice of three entrees: 1) Oven roasted chicken breast Francaise, 2) Veal Scallopini with Marsala wine sauce or 3) Seared Atlantic salmon with Chinese five-spice and Asian vegitables. For dessert, you will have a choice of tropical fresh fruits or Profiteroles with coffee ice cream and bittersweet chocolate sauce (our favorite) accompanied by your choice of coffee or tea.

The price will be the same as last year, $26.00 per person. Send checks to me at 10605 Tropical Breeze Lane, Boynton Beach, FL 33437-4270 by December 15 so we can be assured that we have the right size room.

Pictures of previous luncheons can be seen at the following SOAP web site: http://www.airwaypioneers.com/fl2007.htm

This is going to be one of our best luncheons ever, so don't miss this great annual affair.

Fraternally,

Warren Lichtenberg

Rockville, Maryland Area Luncheons
Submitted by Ken Cohen, Member #3501

Luncheons are being held in the Rockville Maryland and surrounding areas on an irregular, but nearly bimonthly basis by a small group of former Headquarters employees, mostly with engineering background. However all local FAA'ers are welcome to get on my notification email list. We vary the restaurant chosen each time to experience a variety of cuisines. Email me if you are interested at kennethcohen@comcast.net. We also have taken group trips to visit sites of interest, such as the fairly new FAA System Command Center in Herndon (formerly Flow Control), the Potomac Tracon, the Udhar-Hazy Smithsonian aviation museum and the Leesburg ARTCC, etc. Most recently we had a luncheon speaker, Mr. John Tippets, talk about his father, Joe Tippets, who was an Associate Administrator in the late 60's. So come join us!
