My Pal Joe is in the hospital. After recovering from his open hearth surgery last year, Joe was feeling weak, losing weight, and eating less. In the past several weeks he also showed signs of jaundice. His doctor set him up for a procedure top put a stent in his bile duct on 11/5/09. Joe's sisters came down on 11/2/09 and immediately took him to the emergency room of the hospital where the procedure was to be done. On 11/3 the hospital did some tests and completed the procedure, which was done through the esophagus. Below the esophagus, the surgeon encountered two tumors, one bad, one not. The stent is working fine. They are giving him antibiotics to clean out the infection and are trying to get his strength up to a level where he can tolerate the chemo. He seems stronger and his color is returning to normal. Joe is in good spirits and is aware that the prospects are less than favorable. grrrr
