This is a request for help, if you are able to do so. I have learned of a project sponsored by the Kids' Charities of the Antelope Valley that make dog tags for children of servicemen and women serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait and sends the tags to the servicemen/women for them, in turn, to send them as gifts to their children. The tags read: "With love, from mom/dad - U.S. Army (AF, Marines, USN) Iraq/etc. 2008." This project was started by a woman named Rose Sliepka who lives in the AV and she has currently sent out over 300,000 dog tags. You may or may not know that my daughter, Jennifer, is now working for the USO and is in Kuwait. She says she will be a distribution point to get some of these tags to people on their way to Iraq/Afghanistan and she and I have started by giving a check to the AV Childrens' Charities to produce and mail 200 tags to her in Kuwait for distribution. If any of you would like to assist in this cause, you can send a check to me (made out to Children s' Charities of the AV) at my home. I'll see that the checks get to the people who are running this project. It seems to be a worthwhile and honest effort to keep service men and women connected with their kids at home. Unfortunately, trying to get this advertised beyond the AV has been a problem. If you would like to help, we would really appreciate it My address is 44150 30th Street West, Lancaster, CA 93536 or call me at 661-945-5430 if you want more info. Thanks a bunch. Pat Faux
