Thought I'd better give a little update on my progress that you can send along. I had about a walnut sized malignant tumor removed from the right side of my brain on June 11th. There was a potential of some partial, and probable temporary paralysis from the surgery, but thankfully NONE. I did end up with quite a bit of numbness in my left thumb and first two fingers however. A little harder to type, button my shirt and tie my shoes, but I'm making the best of it. Only a small sacrifice as to the alternative. I also seem to tire pretty easily if I'm on my feet too long. Finally got a haircut today. Really needed it. They did a good job - its hard to find the scar. I've had a few seizures since the surgery, two of them in the doctors office right in front of him. That was convenient. They've adjusted the dilantin anti-seizure medicine a bit and no more since. Had the staples out last Thursday, so everything is more comfortable. Will start two weeks of daily radiation treatments on the head tomorrow. When that's completed attention will be turned to the lungs. There are at least three tumors on the right side that I know of and I've been told the cancer is extensive on both sides. My radiologist said he thought he could help those tumors, but will have to see what those that specialize in chemo have to say about whether or not I want to proceed with that. We'll just have to hope for the best, but on the other hand, I'm realistic to what the eventual future is or might be. I would like to express my sincere thanks to all that have phoned, written or e-mailed. I've been brought to tears many time through this. Though sometimes we've argued, debated, agreed and disagreed, my whole career is one that I wouldn't change one bit and have loved and respected everyone.
