Naomi and I are in Boston where I am undergoing a series of surgeries to correct breathing problems at Beth Israel Deaconess hospital. The first two procedures are out patient, but the third is much more complex. Today, an interventional pulmonologist inserted a semi ridged stent in my trachea. My throat hurts and I am coughing some, but otherwise I am OK. The stent will remain in place for 8 days at which time it will be removed. If the stent helps my breathing, a cardiothoracic surgeon will perform a tracheoplasty, the complete reconstruction of my trachea, on June 23. The surgeon will enter my chest under my right arm and through my rib cage. That will require my staying in the hospital for a week. After that, I will have to remain in Boston for 2 additional weeks for follow up.

This is the first time I have connected to the internet using wifi and it is working fine. You can continue to contact me by e-mail or call me on my cell phone at 301-523-0830 or call Naomi on her cell at 301-257-9848.
