WHAT: Gala XXI annual fundraiser for the LAX Flight Path Museum.

WHEN: Thursday, October 6, 2016, 5 to 9 p.m.

WHERE: Flight Path Museum and Learning Center, LAX Imperial Terminal, 6661 West Imperial Highway, Los Angeles. Media parking available west of the building.

WHY: Gala salutes 70 years of commercial airline service at LAX and the 100th anniversary of The Boeing Company, America's leading aircraft manufacturer. The event benefits Flight Path's aviation education and scholarship programs with proceeds from ticket sales, silent auction and drawings.

WHO: The event is presented by Flight Path, a community-based nonprofit organization, in cooperation with Los Angeles World Airports, the City agency which operates LAX, and additional support from Boeing, airlines and aviation related businesses and organizations.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:

Featured Speaker: Deborah Flint, CEO of Los Angeles World Airports, to be introduced by Lynne Adelman, Flight Path President.

Airport Tours: Narrated bus tours of airport historical sites and current improvement projects.

Special Recognition: Seymour Kahn, former CEO of Mercury Air Group, provider of worldwide aviation services, to be honored with a plaque on Flight Path's Aviation Walk of Fame.

Presentation of Scholarships to Aviation Students

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES:

Newly opened Space Exploration Gallery, featuring flight suit of Astronaut Gen. Kevin Chilton, timeline of space history and collection of space artifacts.

Special main gallery exhibit of model aircraft of the original five airlines at LAX: American,
Pan Am, TWA, Western and United.

Airport historical exhibits, airline uniforms and other aviation memorabilia.

Demonstration of aircraft flight simulators, part of the museum's education program.


ABOUT FLIGHT PATH

Flight Path is a nonprofit California 501(c)(3) corporation founded in 1995 to promote the legacy of Southern California aviation and encourage youth to pursue careers in aviation and aerospace. A partnership with Los Angeles World Airports was established in 2003 with the opening of the Flight Path Museum. The museum features exhibits chronicling the history of aviation and aerospace, a vintage DC-3 aircraft and numerous aircraft models, one of the largest collection of airline uniforms anywhere, an aviation research library, flight simulator training classes, and briefings and tours for youngsters and adults. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission and parking are free. Flight Path sponsors an Aviation Walk of Fame in Westchester, with sidewalk plaques honoring aviation and aerospace luminaries and a wall of honor saluting airport community leaders.
